Tamara Schryver
Director of Communications, Co-Chair
Minesota, USA
Tamara Schryver is a Registered Dietitian with a PhD in nutrition, a mother, a person living with pyruvate kinase deficiency, and a patient advocate. She is excited to merge the nonprofit, Thrive with PKD, with PKD Foundation because she believes they have mutual strengths they can bring to the overall organization.
Dr. Schryver was a contributor to the development of the guidelines for treating and diagnosing people with PKD, the book Nutrition in Thalassemia & PKD: A Guideline for Clinicians, research on the psychosocial impacts of PKD on people and families affected by the disease, and a white paper on patient’s experiences with hematologists. She has worked with Agios Pharmacueticals and Global Genes on their patient advisory boards. Before that, Tamara worked at food companies to translate the health benefits of whole grains, dairy, and plant-based foods in the context of government food programs.
She is excited to work with board members to serve the PK deficiency community. With experience in translating science to consumers, she hopes to bring the element of clear communication to this present work.
