PKDIA is proud to present its Board of Directors!

The Board of Directors (BOD) oversees the running of PKDIA to ensure that we meet the needs of our community and deliver our 2026 - 2030 Strategy. One major area of work is seeking funding from outside our non-profit and ensuring that these monies are used effectively.

Alejandra Watson, as our President, takes overall responsibility for the work we do. Her role is pivotal to the success of PKDIA. Alejandra also oversees fundraising and external communications with our stakeholders. As President Alejandra seeks out new stakeholders to support our work and broadcast our message as far and wide as possible.

Laura Miller-D’Angelo, as our Secretary, heads up our governance work, ensuring that our meetings are streamlined and correctly recorded. Alongside Carl Lander, Laura oversees our finances, ensuring that we have an understanding of our income and expenditure to enable us to invest in activities for our community.

Carl Lander, Research Director, ensures that we have a pipeline of research activity to bring a greater understanding to the lives of those living with PK Deficiency. This research is based upon reviewing literature so that we can bring together data and experience to help educate others in an understandble way. Carl also shares the Finance responsibility, overseeing the income and expenditure, reporting our position to the BOD and helping formulate our plans based upon costs and available funds.

Between us, we also support website development, social media posts, direct support to our community and arranging events such as webinars and conferences.

We are seeking like-minded people to join our Board of Directors

Do you have an interest in the lived experience of people and their carers living with pyruvate kinase deficiency? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need particular skills but a willingness to work together to help drive our work to improve the lives of those living with PK Deficiency. If you happen to have finance or communications experience, that would be hugely welcomed.
