Maryland, USA

Laura lives with pyruvate kinase deficiency and is a patient advocate for individuals impacted by PKD. Her objective is to ensure that people with PKD consistently receive support, have access to educational resources, and can connect with other individuals who have PKD.

As a member of Agios Pharmaceuticals’ Advocacy Advisory Council, she contributed to the Communications White Paper and Life Phase Model, both presented at leading hemolytic platforms, including the American Society of Hematology, European Hematology Association, and National Organization of Rare Diseases.

Throughout her 38-year professional career, she has developed skills in leadership culture, facilitation, planning, supply chain management, and continuous improvement, which she believes will benefit the PKDIA team. She supports the merger of the two nonprofits, PKDF and Thrive with PKD, as she believes that a single nonprofit organization serving individuals affected by PKD will have a stronger presence and increased efficacy.
